15 Ways to Spring Clean your Life

The ultimate to-do list for spring cleaning, and we don’t mean just your house.

Spring is here! Flowers blooming, birds chirping, and a house that no doubt needs some deep cleaning. April is a month of cleansing and refreshing – and here at goodNes, we’re cleaning out our closets, but we’re also doing another kind of spring cleaning: LIFE cleaning.

April is the perfect time to take an inventory of our lives and throw out the stuff that’s not working. It’s been awhile since our New Year’s resolutions were made, and as the warm weather excitement approaches, we’re looking for ways to freshen up. So let’s dust off the old habits, and polish up a sparkly new routine for ourselves.

Here are 12 ways you can spring clean your life!

1. Evaluate your relationships.

Are you happy? Are you holding onto toxic relationships that need to end? Would others consider you a good friend and family member? This is a great time to prioritize your relationships and think about making time for the people in your life who matter most.

2. Delete useless apps.

You know those apps you were so excited to download, and then never touched again? Get rid of them! Clean up space on your phone, and organize the apps that you do use. It’s something small, but considering how often we use our phones, cleaning up your digital world can work wonders for your mental clarity.

3. Money, money, money

This is a perfect time to look at your finances. Do you have more money going out than you have money coming in? Are there any monthly subscriptions you don’t need anymore? Try a free personal finance service to help you stay organized, set budgets and financial goals, and view your spending habits over time.

4. Declutter your calendar!

Learn to put yourself first and only schedule things that are important to you. You can’t possibly fit everything in, so consider where you’re spending your time and energy, and prioritize. Skip the baby shower and go to the gym if that’s what you need more in your life.

5. Clean out your refrigerator.

And your pantry. And your general eating habits. By switching up your meals and opting for healthier recipes, you can have more energy, feel less fatigued, and all around lighter and fitter. Try these recipes for inspiration.

6. Clean your mind.

We make a million decisions every day, and that can lead to mental fatigue. Try to take some time each day to meditate and relax your brain. Find a quiet space, whether its a nature walk or a bubble bath, and just breathe.

7. Reawaken your talents.

You are beautiful and #blessed with talents! Dust off your guitar, paintbrush, camera, ballet shoes, or whatever it is that helps your talents shine. Do something uniquely you and share it with the world!

8. Donate old clothes.

Spring cleaning your closet is also a big part of life cleaning. If you haven’t worn something in over a year, get rid of it! Somebody else will love it, so stop holding onto things you never wear. Only keep the clothes that flatter your body and make you feel confident.

9. Unscribe!

Do you have over 2000 unread emails? We are totally guilty of having an overwhelming amount of junk mail in our mailboxes. And if you aren’t checking it every day, it can snowball into a mountain of spam. Try an email unsubscription service to help you organize your inbox, and then delete all your unread mail!

10. Imagine the future

Where do you want to be in 1 year? How about  5, 10, or 30 years? What do you need to do to get there? Reevaluate your goals and how you can be spending your time to achieve them.

11. Explore new hobbies.

Is there something you’ve always wanted to try, but haven’t gotten around to it? Get over your fears and dive in! Take the French class! Go to the swing dance club! Join the improv troupe! What’s the worst that can happen?

12. Reflect.

How are things going for you this year? Is there room for improvement? What about your attitude? Your mindset affects everything in your daily life, especially those around you. Spring is a great time to check in with yourself and see how you can improve.
