This easy espresso martini is creamy and sweet, with a velvety foam top, and it's ready in just 5 minutes. Made with freshly brewed espresso, vodka, and Coffee Mate Liquid Coffee Creamer, it delivers the rich flavor of a bar-quality espresso martini without heavy cream or simple syrup. The creamer adds body and sweetness in one step, so the drink comes together quickly with a few ingredients and a cocktail shaker.

Coffee Mate creamer works well here because it blends with espresso and spirits without curdling, and it gives the drink a silky texture you won't get from milk or half-and-half. Choose any Coffee Mate flavor, French Vanilla for a classic sweetness, or Italian Sweet Crème or Hazelnut to change the profile.

This is a beginner-friendly cocktail suitable as a late-night after-dinner drink, a dinner party starter, or any time you want a coffee-forward cocktail with minimal effort. It requires one shaker, five ingredients and five minutes.

Why this recipe works

Shaking the cocktail with ice aerates the espresso and creamer and creates the frothy top that defines an espresso martini. Coffee Mate adds sweetness and body in a single ingredient, replacing both the cream and the sweetener found in traditional recipes and simplifying the ingredient list. The creamer won't curdle in alcohol; unlike dairy milk or cream, Coffee Mate's formula stays smooth when combined with vodka and espresso. Chilling the glass keeps the drink cold longer, and a pre-chilled martini glass prevents the cocktail from warming too quickly, preserving the texture and foam. Adding a tablespoon of Kahlúa or a similar coffee liqueur is optional but will round out the coffee flavor without making the drink overly sweet.

Ingredients

Make It

Step 1

Fill cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add espresso, Coffee mate Liquid, vodka and liqueur; cover. Shake for 10 to 15 seconds. Strain into chilled martini glass. Garnish with three coffee beans.

NOTE:

Try garnishing the rim of the martini glass with grated chocolate. Coat the rim with honey, then dip in grated chocolate.
