Ingredients

Make It

Step 1

Mix 1 ½ cups wheat flour, 2/3 cup evaporated milk and 1 packet yeast in a medium bowl; let rest for 1 hour in a warm place until it doubles in volume. Form a well with 3 cups wheat flour, granulated sugar and Abuelita chocolate; pour remaining 1/3 cup evaporated milk, remaining packet yeast, 4 eggs, cinnamon, and fermented yeast dough. Mix all the ingredients until forming a dough. Knead it and hit it against the table until it is smooth, elastic and does not stick to your fingers. Add 2 sticks of butter and continue kneading until completely mixed. Place in a large, greased bowl; cover with plastic wrap and let it rest in a warm place until it doubles in volume. Place on a greased and floured tray.

Step 2

Cut through the center of the dough forming a donut. Spread the dough until it almost reaches the edges of the tray. Beat remaining 2 sticks butter, powdered sugar, sweetened condensed milk, remaining 1 ½ cups flour, baking powder and crumbled marzipan in a large mixer bowl. Refrigerate for 30 minutes. Cut marzipan mixture into 4 pieces and place them on the bread dough. Insert the dolls into the bread. Brush with beaten egg and cover with a damp cloth. Let rest until the bread doubles in size.

Step 3

Bake at 350° F for 25 to 30 minutes. Remove from oven and cool completely.
