Make It

Step 1

Mix yeast, 1 teaspoon sugar and warm water in a small bowl; rest in a warm place until it doubles in volume. Form a well with flour, 1/2 cup sugar and 1 grated tablet Abuelita chocolate; pour yeast, evaporated milk, whole egg, egg yolks, softened butter and marzipan in the center. Mix until it forms a paste. Knead and hit the dough against the table until it is smooth, elastic and does not stick to your hands. Place dough in a lightly greased bowl; cover with plastic wrap and rest in a warm place until doubled in volume.

Step 2

Reserve a quarter of the dough to form the bones and small balls. Divide rest of the dough into 10 equal parts. Form buns and place in a cupcake pan with liners; let rest in a warm place until buns double in volume. With the reserved dough, form 10 balls and 20 strips for the bones; place them crossed on the cupcakes and place a small ball on top.

Step 3

Brush tops with beaten egg. Bake at 350° F for 25 minutes or until cooked. Remove from oven; brush with melted butter and sprinkle with a little grated Abuelita chocolate.
