Mahala and Abraham Stouffer start serving fresh buttermilk and free crackers in the Cleveland Arcade.
1924
The first STOUFFER’S® restaurant opens in Cleveland, named “Stouffer Lunch.”
1926
The second STOUFFER’S restaurant opens in Detroit, MI.
1954
STOUFFER’S restaurants grow to serve over 14 million meals a year, and the company begins creating frozen entrées.
1960
STOUFFER’S first hotel, the Anacapri Inn, opens in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
1973
Nestlé, the world's biggest food brand, acquires STOUFFER’S.
1981
STOUFFER’S releases a new line of entrées, each containing fewer than 300 calories: LEAN CUISINE®
1990
STOUFFER’S enters the 90's with its name on 68 restaurants and 40 major resorts and hotels, before selling them in 1992 to focus on frozen food.
