Brined Holiday Turkey
- 4 cups water
- 1 cup sea salt
- 6 tablespoons Maggi® Granulated Chicken Flavor Bouillon
- 2 tablespoons allspice berries
- 12 cloves garlic, peeled and crushed
- 6 bay leaves
- 2 lemons, sliced
- 2 gallons cold water
- 14- to 16-pound turkey, neck and giblets removed
Bring 4 cups water, salt, bouillon, allspice, garlic, bay leaves and lemon slices to a boil in a medium saucepan; boil, stirring frequently, until salt is dissolved.
Remove from heat; cool completely.
Place brine in a clean, 5-gallon bucket; add 2 gallons cold water. Place turkey, breast-side-down, in the brine, making sure it is fully submerged. Add additional water if needed. Cover; refrigerate for 10 to 24 hours.
Remove turkey from brine; rinse inside and out with cold water. Discard brine.
Prepare turkey as desired.
