Black Bean and Chickpea Veggie Burgers

Makes 8 servings, 1 burger per serving

The Secret Ingredient


  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, rinsed and drained
  • 1 can (15 ounces) chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup frozen whole kernel corn, thawed
  • 1 large egg
  • 3 tablespoons chopped cilantro
  • 2 tablespoons Maggi® Sweet Chili Sauce
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 6 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil, divided
  • 8 whole grain hamburger buns
  • Optional toppings: sliced tomatoes, lettuce, ketchup, mayonnaise

Make It

Step 1

Place breadcrumbs, beans, chickpeas, corn, egg, cilantro, sweet chili sauce, chili powder and garlic in food processor; cover. Process until well combined, scraping down sides as needed.

Step 2

Scoop about 1/3 cup bean mixture and use hands to form into a patty. Repeat with remaining mixture to make 8 patties total.

Step 3

Heat 2 tablespoons oil in large, nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Cook patties, 2 to 3 at a time, for 3 minutes on each side or until browned. Add more oil with each batch.

Step 4

Assemble burgers on buns. Top with optional toppings.
